TOMAŽ GREGORIČ

WATER

January 28, 2009 – February 14, 2009

Galerija Gregor Podnar is pleased to announce Water, a solo exhibition by Tomaž Gregorič at its Project Space in Ljubljana.

The large-format photographic works in the exhibition Water are the product of many years of observation and part a much larger series entitled Peripheries. In the photographic work of Tomaž Gregorič, the perception of the different manifestations and forms of water is not so much about finding a way to categorize nature and the environment we live in, but rather about the unceasing pursuit of a subject. Gregorič’s characteristic medium of the photographic image is, on the surface, an analytic gaze created through long exposures of the ‘frozen’ picture. However, it presents a display of subtle and poetically saturated moments that simply express the thrill of gazing into water.

Tomaž Gregorič lives and works in Ljubljana. His work has been shown in some of the most important exhibitions in Slovenia, including at the 4th U3 Triennial of Contemporary Slovene Art at the Moderna Galerija in Ljubljana and the survey exhibition Slovene Art 95–05 at the Moderna Galerija in 2005. He also works as a photographer in the fields of advertising and architecture.

The exhibition is made possible by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia
